Director of Communications

Delta Magic is seeking a Director of Communications to lead the communication of the “magic” of the Delta. There are too many great things happening in the Delta for us to keep up on our own, and have prioritized the hiring of someone who can help spread the good news. The Director of Communications will report to the Executive Director with whom you will work to execute on the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities

Social Media: 

  • Manage consistent, positive communication through Facebook and other social media platforms as you see fit.

  • Engage followers in the good news for the region.

  • Boost event participation by the community through creating engaging social media posts and events.

  • Build positive narratives of Delta Magic’s work and individual stories.

Blog Posts

  • Write one blog post per week on a topic that highlights a person, organization, resource, event, or opportunity that exists in the area.

  • Share blog posts through social media and newsletters.

Newsletter

  • Send a monthly newsletter that contains at least one blog post, the resource guide, merchandise, and the community calendar.

Community Calendar

  • Identify community events and add them to the Community Calendar

  • Share the Community Calendar through social media and newsletters.

Podcast

  • Maintain the podcast recording equipment.

  • Edit podcast recordings into finalized products and share podcasts to our website and podcast platforms.

  • Work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify podcast topics.

Other Media Productions

  • Create short highlight reels for social media and our website that feature the “magic” of the Delta.

  • Design flyers and announcements to promote Delta Magic events.

Grant Writing

  • Work with the Executive Director to identify and apply for grant opportunities to support communication efforts.

Community

  • Attend and document community events.

  • Occasionally volunteer at community events.

  • Background in writing, journalism, or marketing.

  • Comfort with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe.

  • Experience with video or audio editing.

  • Experience with video or audio recording.

  • Comfort with the Delta and its residents.

  • Ability to work well on a team and with multiple stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Phillips County Resident

  • Degree or certification in Graphic Design, English, Journalism, Communication, or Marketing

Preferences

  • Salary starting at $34,000

  • $600 monthly premium reimbursement for medical and dental insurance

  • Laptop and Delta Magic email

  • Expectation to work in the office or doing field work, with flexibility to work remotely.

  • Moving stipend may be available on an “as needed” basis.
