What Brings Magic to the Delta? Meet Dave Valley

When asked what brings magic to the Delta, Dave Valley spoke about something deeply personal—a sense of belonging and the tremendous potential he sees in the community he calls home.

Having lived in California before returning to the Delta in 2013, Dave says there is nowhere else he would rather be.

"I feel comfortable here. I lived in California and moved back in 2013, and I don't plan on going anywhere else."

For Dave, the magic of the Delta lies not only in its people but also in the possibilities that surround them. He sees signs of progress and hopes for even more revitalization in the years ahead.

"There's lots of potential. I see people looking at buildings on Cherry Street, and I'd love to see it like it was in the '60s and '70s."

Like many longtime residents, Dave remembers a vibrant downtown and believes the community can once again become a place where businesses thrive and neighbors gather. He believes that restoring and improving buildings is an important part of honoring the past while investing in the future.

"If people turn their attention to improving buildings, I think we can bring a lot of that spirit back."

Dave's perspective is rooted in optimism. Having experienced life elsewhere, he returned to the Delta with an appreciation for the unique sense of home and opportunity that exists here. His story reflects the belief that revitalization begins with people who care deeply about their community and are committed to seeing it flourish.
