Mollie Lewis — Delta Magic Rising Leaders Alumna

Mollie Lewis works in her 100 year old family business, Dixie Furniture.

Mollie Lewis is a Delta Magic Rising Leaders alumna who works at Dixie Furniture’s main location in Helena. For Mollie, working there is especially meaningful because her family started the business. She grew up watching her family build something they loved, and today, she has the opportunity to be part of that legacy.

Mollie shared, “I got to grow up watching them do what they love, and I also get to do what I love.”

What Mollie loves most about the Helena-West Helena area is its strong sense of community. In a small town where people know one another, she believes there is almost always someone willing to lend a helping hand.

“There’s not a lot of people here, and it’s a small community, so everyone knows everyone,” she said. “Whenever you need help, somebody’s always there to help you, lend you a helping hand, and pick you up when you can’t pick yourself up.”

Mollie also believes that creating more opportunities for young people is essential to the community’s future. Over the years, she has seen businesses close and people leave the area in search of opportunities elsewhere.

“Keeping our opportunities here in our hometown will keep people around,” Mollie explained. She believes more opportunities and activities for young people would give them greater reasons to stay, return, and build their futures at home.

Outside of work, Mollie appreciates the simple things that make the Delta special. She enjoys spending time outdoors, catfishing, and discovering quiet coves along the river.

For Mollie, the magic of this area can be found in its people, its strong sense of community, and the opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of home.
