Exploring the Natural Beauty of Mississippi River State Park

Delta Magic recently had the opportunity to step away from the office and experience one of Arkansas’s hidden treasures firsthand. Our team joined Bola Ojo from Arkansas State Parks for an informative and inspiring tour of Mississippi River State Park, located in the heart of the Arkansas Delta.
Throughout the tour, our staff explored the park’s beautiful campgrounds, scenic lakes, peaceful creeks, and welcoming cabins. The experience provided a closer look at the outdoor recreation opportunities available right here in our region and highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the natural resources that make the Delta unique. This was a great team-bonding experience for Delta Magic as we spent time embracing nature and learning more about the uniqueness of Mississippi River State Park!
As we traveled through the park, we learned about its history, visitor experiences, and the many ways families, students, and community members can connect with nature. From fishing and hiking to camping and wildlife observation, Mississippi River State Park offers something for everyone.
The tour also served as a reminder that the Delta is filled with assets that contribute to the quality of life for residents and attract visitors from across the state and beyond. At Delta Magic, we believe that celebrating these community treasures is an important part of changing the narrative about our region.

The park offers several camping options, including full-service Class AAA sites at Beech Point and Storm Creek Campgrounds, primitive campsites at Lone Pine Campground, and five comfortable camper cabins at Storm Creek Lake. The cabins include electricity, heating and air conditioning, beds, dining areas, screened porches, and outdoor grills with fire pits. Modern, accessible bathhouses are also available near the camping areas, and campsites include picnic tables, grills, and fire rings.
Water lovers can explore Bear Creek Lake, Storm Creek Lake, Phillips Bayou, and the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Francis rivers. Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking, and swimming at the park's two public beaches. Multiple boat ramps, fishing piers, docks, and kayak launch areas make it easy to experience the area's waterways. Rentals are also available for boats, kayaks, canoes, and bicycles.
The park's Visitor Center provides interactive exhibits highlighting the area's ecology and natural resources, along with a gift shop and supplies such as bait and firewood. Group meeting and event spaces are also available, making the park a great location for family reunions, gatherings, and community events.
For those who prefer exploring on land, Mississippi River State Park features scenic, family-friendly hiking trails, including the accessible Trotting Fox Trail, Bear Creek Lake Nature Trail, and historic Baseline Trail. Visitors can also experience the beauty of the Delta through the Great River Road and Crowley's Ridge Parkway National Scenic Byways.
