At just 21 years old, Jonashu "JoJo" Young has already turned a childhood passion into a thriving business that is making an impact in Helena-West Helena. As the owner of 870 Hairstyles, JoJo is doing more than styling hair—she is creating opportunities, building confidence, and investing in the next generation.

JoJo's love for hairstyling began when she was only four years old. She started by practicing hairstyles at home and quickly realized she had found something she truly loved. That early passion stayed with her throughout her childhood and eventually inspired her to become a young entrepreneur in her hometown.

Today, JoJo proudly serves clients from her salon, 870 Hairstyles, located at 106 South 5th Street in West Helena, Arkansas. She enjoys doing a little bit of everything but especially loves creating beautiful braided styles that help her clients feel confident.

Why stay in Helena-West Helena?

For JoJo, the answer is simple—community.

Growing up here shaped who she is, and she wants to give back to the place that supported her. Rather than leaving, she chose to build her business in Helena-West Helena because she believes local families deserve quality services close to home.

She also understands that many families are preparing for school each year, so she tries to offer affordable specials whenever possible. Giving back isn't just about discounts; it's about making sure young people can look and feel their best.

"I love knowing everyone here," she shared. "This is my hometown, and I want to give back."

Creating Opportunities for Others

JoJo's vision extends well beyond hairstyling.

She currently has two people working with her and hopes to continue growing her business while mentoring other young entrepreneurs. One of her dreams is to begin offering small hairstyling classes for local youth, giving them an opportunity to learn a valuable skill that could one day become a career.

When JoJo was growing up, there weren't many hairstylists her age in the community. Seeing that need motivated her to pursue the profession even more.

"I wanted to create something that wasn't here when I was younger," she explained. "I want to give other young people a chance."

Looking Ahead

As the back-to-school season approaches, JoJo plans to announce special promotions to help students get ready for the new school year. She also has exciting plans for the future, including expanding into her own line of hair products.

Recently celebrating the opening of her new salon, JoJo described the moment as seeing her vision finally come to life.

"My vision is coming to life," she said. "Thank God, and thank my mom and dad for helping make this dream come true."

Whether she's creating beautiful hairstyles, mentoring future stylists, or giving back to her hometown, JoJo is proving that passion, hard work, and community can build something truly special. At 870 Hairstyles, she's not just styling hair—she's helping shape the future of Helena-West Helena.
