9th Annual Freeman Playground School Supplies Giveaway
This past Saturday, Freeman Playground in Helena was filled with excitement and gratitude as families gathered for the 9th Annual School Supplies Giveaway. The beloved community event provided 400 bookbags filled with essential school supplies, ensuring that local students are prepared for a successful school year.
The event’s roots trace back to 2017 when Freeman Playground first opened as a space for families and children to come together. Organizer Misty Staley reflected on how the giveaway became a tradition:
“When we started Freeman Playground in 2017, we were looking to do different community events and school supplies giveaway always came up,” she said. “We are so happy that so many people look forward to it.”
And people certainly did. According to Misty, this year’s turnout was overwhelming:
“This year, we ran out of bookbags in the first thirty minutes,” she shared.
For many parents, the event was more than just picking up supplies — it was a chance to experience the community coming together. Kamera, a local parent, expressed her appreciation:
“This was nice. It moved faster than I thought it would, so it was real organized,” she said.
This giveaway was just one of several back-to-school events happening across the community that weekend. To make sure you never miss an event like this, check out the Delta Magic Community Calendar — a great resource for staying up to date on what’s happening in the area.
